Starting a career as an Electrician then progressing to planning, scheduling and work methods. A systems analyst in London and Brasil with short engagements in elswhere in South America and Europe. Various management positions in Manufacturing, Sales, Marketing and project Management covering Petroleum Retail, Machine Robotics, Manufacturing monitoring and IT. All contributes to a wealth of knowledge and wisdom particularly in working with private companies wishing to engage with the community sector and with the community sector wishing to engage with the corporate world.
John’s initial active encounter with community work was being invited to the Board of a local Charity ‘Wellclose House’ in Birmingham UK. From there he has been engaged in a number of projects which continued on his return to Australia with his family.
Following his return from Europe John was appointed to a position to lobby, initiate ideas and develop opportunities to increase transport options for the community of the Central Coast. Since then John has been instrumental in either the initiation, development or proactive management of Central Coast organisations including the Community Council, Tenant Advice and Advocacy Service, Fusion Arts, Brackets & Jam, Kids Day Out and a number of other organisations.
Working within the Benevolent Society he managed the Men Accessing Resources & Services programme from which a number of initiatives were commenced and are continuing through active community support despite funding for the programme concluding in December 2010.
Positive and proactive work is continuing with a programme to build stronger families and communities through working with men and continuing work with community groups and organisations.
John has recently completed his Diploma of Community Services Coordination which is an acknowledgement to the work and experience in the community development, coaching and capacity building that John continues to be engaged in. He is currently persuing his Diploma in Management [Social Enterprise]
John is the registered sole trader carrying out the work of Community Consultations in the fields of Community Development, Capacity Building an Organisational Coaching.
